Shift your focus to Gratitude: Live a fulfilling life.
As a child, I remember my mom saying to me,” if you are always thinking and complaining about what you don’t have, you will always be in scarcity. Instead be grateful for what you have and make the most use of it”. Indeed, mothers are the best teachers.
If I explain to you simply, it’s the law of attraction. The more you think of something, you get the more of it. For instance, your thoughts are pooled with the inadequacies of life, you cannot focus on the available resources.
When you compare a life full of compliance and a life full of gratitude, you see a major difference in attitude and behavior. When you are only complaining, focusing on what you lack, you only drain your energy. On the other hand, being grateful about what all you have endowed with enriches you with more power.
Shifting a complaining mindset to a more grateful life demands willingness and conscious efforts to change the habit. It takes a minimum of 21 days to get into any new habit, so practicing self-discipline for at least 3 weeks will yield a positive impact. Meditation will help you to calm your mind.
Let me highlight a few benefits of gratitude:
● Boosted self-confidence and self-esteem
● Happy and calm mind.
● Enhanced physical well being
● Improved energy
● Decreased stress
I hope the positive benefits listed above inspires you to practice gratitude in life.
But, you may ask, I want to inculcate the virtue of gratefulness but how do I do it?
You can easily shift your attitude with the following few pointers:
● Find happiness in small things: People who wait for something big to happen, miss out on little opportunities to be happy and celebrate life. Be happy with minute achievements, take life as if come don’t keep waiting.
● Journaling: It’s a great way to vent out emotions and help you cleanse. Journaling also helps you reflect on day to day happening, helping you figure out the best moments of life as well.
● Express your gratitude more often: When you express gratitude to people around you, you share very positive energy thereby fostering a strong bond. The more you do so, the happier you are and your surroundings too.
Focusing on work, keeping oneself busy, talking to self in a positive language etc. are a few other tips that can help too.
Remember, the first step is the realization, the awareness. Sometimes it may be difficult to do it on your own. A life coach along with your conscious efforts can take you to a path of gratitude. It’s always good to seek help instead of living a mediocre life.
