“Knowing ourselves truly is like knowing God, the supreme power”…anonymous..

Relationships are important, connecting with people around us is the basic nature of humans and a necessity too but before connecting with others, a strong connection with self is more important, especially in this fast-paced world designed to distract us.

Wondering what exactly is connecting to self mean? In simplest terms, connecting to self means to know oneself better, acknowledge your strengths, weaknesses, emotions. Knowing ourselves better will help us to respond to our needs better and cater to them timely. In short, building a stronger relationship with ourselves.

Someone has rightly said, knowing oneself thoroughly is like exploring a hidden treasure. Have you found your hidden treasure?

According to various recent studies and psychological experts, a person who knows oneself better is more creative, successful and good at handling relationships with others.

The world we live in is full of distractions, not letting us sit and ponder. We don’t have time to practice self-reflection as we are too obsessed with judging others.

A lost relationship with ourselves is like a lost golden opportunity. Hang on, don’t lose it just to feel guilty of throwing away diamonds thinking them mere stones. Don’t commit this mistake, connect with the true self, nourish your soul with positivity, spirituality and accept who you are along with a constant effort to be the best version of self.

Understanding the importance of a strong connection with our inner true self, now let’s discuss a few pointers that can bridge the gap between you and your inner self:

● Accept, name and nurture our feelings.

● Be more empathic to yourself.

● Pursue a passion or hobby.

● Practice mediation and self-reflection.

These above-stated points are guiding lines to take you to a path of self-discovery. For ages, saints, mahatmas have been practicing mediation, and self-reflection to connect with one’s true self.

Swami Vivekananda is a legendary example. He said he has lost his ego, anger, his physical identity and connected with his true self through meditation.

We are not mere bodies, we are an embodiment of potent energy that is lying deep within us, just a realization is the key. The time we realize and start using that potent energy, no one can stop us from achieving the life of our dreams.
